Here’s What They’re Saying About Kim Carson’s Music!

“Whenever I’ve seen Kim Carson in the past, it’s been the bawdy songs that grabbed me first. She’s always had a way with a socially irresponsible lyric, pulling off songs like “I Only Like You When I’m Drinking” and “Tequila Makes My Clothes Fall Off” with a sly wink. Less familiar are her skills as a country balladeer, but that’s what you hear on this disc: It’s less about the bad behavior that can follow heartbreak and more about the heartbreak itself.” – Brett Milano, OffBeat Magazine, (Aug. 1, 2014)

“[I]t is time to shine a little light on this consummate and honest honky-tonk singer. The title cut, ‘Enough Heart Left to Break,’ showcases Carson as a mature artist and songwriter, demonstrating that honky-tonk does not require a superficial sound.” – Georgianne Nienaber, Roots World (Jun 1, 2014)

“A hit with country fans from the moment she stepped on stage and released her first album, “Dirty Halo,” in 1997, Carson has traveled the world with her unique mix of rock and honky tonk music, especially making a splash with her shows in such European locales as Switzerland, Germany and Austria. But when she returns to play in New Orleans it’s more than just another gig – it’s a celebration of the resilient city that she has called her home for years.” – Thomas Gerbasi, AXS Music (Apr 22, 2014)

Kim Carson is as fine a roots/country singer as someone like Rosie Flores. Her brand of high Octane Twang is traditional without being retro.” -Alex Rawls, OffBeat Magazine

Carson’s combination of Honky Tonk and Rockabilly, Tonkabilly if you will, is as unique as her always enthusiastic stage show.” -Fran Thomspson, Mullet Wrapper

Thanks to Jim Stratton, Arctic Cactus Hour, KNBA Anchorage. The following are excerpts from his email message:

“Kim – On a recent trip from Alaska to Nashville, I was lucky enough to catch your set at Billy Block’s….blew me away.

I produce and host a weekly show here in Alaska called the Kim Carson & The Enablers 2013 European TourArctic Cactus Hour and would like to add your new disc to my playlist

I really like your disc. Since my show is a Saturday evening, I go for the more upbeat stuff, so I added Going Back To Louisiana last night and I’ll probably add “Honky-Tonk Girl” sometime in the next few months. May also add Midnight Angel.
